Generation of a Test Reference Year (TRY): an application to the town of Palermo
2012
The improvement of the energy efficiency of buildings calls for the availability of tools for evaluating and simulating the thermal behaviour of buildings, needing as input climatic databases. These databases contain a very large amount of data, resulting in long computational time analysis. Therefore, simple aggregation methods are used, among which the test reference year (TRY). In this paper, a comparison between two statistical methodologies for compiling a TRY, the Belgian and the Sandia methods, is presented. Then, the two methods have been utilized for compiling the TRY for the town of Palermo, Italy, and compared both statistically and by means of two simple applications, obtaining …
Aggregation methods to calculate the average price
2015
Abstract Average price is a numerical value that represents a set of prices, which may relate to firms, countries, or regions. This study presents new methods of average price aggregation that build on the unified aggregation operator (UAO). The UAO combines a wide range of sub-aggregation processes into a single formulation capable of accounting for the importance of each concept in the analysis. The aggregation system is flexible, can adapt to different environments, and provides a complete representation of relevant information. The UAO can calculate the average price for numerous geographical contexts such as supranational regions and countries. The study illustrates the UAO's utility b…
The Unbalanced Linguistic Aggregation Operator in Group Decision Making
2012
Published version of an article in the journal: Mathematical problems in engineering. Also available from Hindawi: http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2012/619162 Many linguistic aggregation methods have been proposed and applied in the linguistic decision- making problems. In practice, experts need to assess a number of values in a side of reference domain higher than in the other one; that is, experts use unbalanced linguistic values to express their evaluation for problems. In this paper, we propose a new linguistic aggregation operator to deal with unbalanced linguistic values in group decision making, we adopt 2-tuple representation model of linguistic values and linguistic hierarchies to expres…
